FCA’s Rich History

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is touching millions of lives… one heart at a time. Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.

NYC-FCA Beginnings

On September 1, 2015, NYC-FCA entered a new season when, after two years of exploration and planning Sean McNamara, Vice President of Field Ministry for the Northeast, teamed up with Frank Reynoso, FCA’s newly appointed Inner City Regional Coordinator, to establish NYC-FCA in the five boroughs and Long Island.

“If FCA hadn’t existed until now, and we were to choose one place for it to start, New York City might be where many people believe it should have started,” states Sean McNamara, “The apostle Paul had frequented the cities to spread the Gospel, because that’s where the people were, and we believe there is incredible opportunity for FCA to influence many lives in the NYC area. While there are 34 million people in FCA’s Northeast Region, approximately 11 million of them live in the New York City metro area.”

Reynoso is excited about his new role in his hometown. “We spent the last few years spying the land to see what we can do here in New York City and now we have started to get something going here, so that FCA can be here in New York City, finally — where it should be.”

To see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

To present to coaches and athletes, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.
